Chapter 1 - Cheryl by Friday Challenge
Okay here's my response to Scenario 1:

He maneuvered the Vette down the highway. He turned off into the
first rest stop he came to. He needed to make a phone call. People
would be worried about him. If the damn car phone hadn't been dead,
he wouldn't have been in this predicament. He dug some change out of
his pocket, put it into the payphone and dialed the number.

He barely heard one ring before someone answered.

"Lee, is that you?"

"It's me. I'm fine."

"What happened?"

"You're not going to believe it."

"I'm just so happy you're safe. I was worried. You've been gone for
over twenty-four hours."

"I got lost on a deserted road. I came to a house, or what I thought
was a house, that had a light on. I was going to ask for directions
back to the main road. I knocked and rang the doorbell. No one
answered. I turned the knob it opened. I found myself in a corridor
that led down and I followed it."

"It wasn't a house?"

"No, it was an outside entrance to some kind of underground complex.
They have everything down there: Bedrooms, kitchen, stock rooms,
gym, library, living room, media room, and sauna. A massive maze of
rooms."

"You couldn't find a way out?"

"Not at first. A lot of women live down there, Amanda. Since I had
no idea if they were hostile I stayed in the shadows until I could
ascertain if they were some kind of cult, fanatic extremists, hippies
or just some crazy group. I even learned some of their names: ANA,
TERA, JAN, WENDI, RITA, ANNE, MONICA, STEPHY, CHERYL, LYNDA,
ERMINTRUDE, SUE, a couple of JULIES and several JENNIFERS.

"Were any of them from your black books?"

"You know I burned those a long time ago. I've never seen any of
them before."

"I know, I couldn't help but tease you. So are they something the
Agency needs to be made aware of?"

"I think they're harmless. But what made me unwary were the
photographs on the wall. They were all of `me!'"

"You?"

"Yeah, it was strange. It was like I was someone famous. I was
dressed in cowboy clothing in some, police uniforms in others and
then in regular clothing from jeans to tuxes. They acted like they
worshipped me. It was like they were all in love with me. Their
fantasy lover."

"Well I certainly can understand them if the man in the pictures
looked like you. I don't blame them one bit. You were my fantasy
lover for a long time before you made my dreams come true."

"Because there were so many women and my resemblance to the man in
the pictures, I had to be careful about being detected. I wasn't
sure what they would do if I revealed myself to them. I had to keep
finding different hiding spots. Finally, they all gathered in the
media room to watch a movie with him in the leading role. They also
talked about attending some kind of convention soon where he'll be
the main attraction."

"Maybe we should check out this convention. It sounds like they're
harmless, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. We should
add them to our `spring cleaning' list."

"That's all we need another nutso group to check out. All I know is
they call the place where they live `The Gutter' and
themselves `gutter girls.' I'll tell Billy about them tomorrow."

"When will you be home?"

"I should be there in an hour."

"I'll be waiting for you in the bedroom."

"Make that a half hour."
Chapter 2 - Monica by Friday Challenge
The phone in the Q-Bureau, started ringing, startling the one occupant at the moment.
Amanda's thoughts were all at Lee, he was sent by Dr Smyth in a
super hush-hush mission in Israel. And she didn't know if he is
making all his check-ups. In fact he did them the first two days but
for the last over 30 hours he was silent. Mr. Melrose didn't want to
worry her...but she knew something was wrong.

"Q-Bureau, Amanda King speaking. Yes Sir, I'll be down there right
away!"

Amanda enter through the glass doors in the bullpen right at the
same moment when Billy's "Francine, my office!" resounded in the room.
Both ladies entered at the same time:

"Hello sir!"

"What's up Billy?"

"Amanda, Francine as you both know, Scarecrow is in Israel but even
if the mission was a successful one, Scarecrow vanished on the way to
the airport. Our sources down there assured me that aren't any bad
guys around, and all the known enemies are silent. This is weird
and..."

The phone rang again.

"Melrose, SCARECROW where the hell... Okay, okay calm down, she's
here, I'll let you speak with her first. Amanda he wants to speak with
you."

Blushing furiously Amanda took the receiver, and listen what her
secret fiancé has to say, she didn't say anything but her eyes lit
and a happy smile flourish on her lips.

"Ok Lee, I'll tell him, do you know more? Lee? Lee?"
"It is disconnected sir, but he's well and on the way here from the
airport.

A good over half an hour after that a very tired but happy Scarecrow
made his appearance in Billy's office.

"Welcome home Lee, but can you tell us where have you been the last
over 30 hours?"

Billy, something really weird happened on the way to the airport. I
took a taxi driven by a lady named JAN - her driver’s permit was in the
rearview mirror. Well the first half of the way was fine, she was
looking at me often, but nothing alarming - after all I'm used to
women looking at me.

But suddenly all changed she hit the brakes so hard, and I struck
my head in the window, and the next thing I noticed was , that I
wasn't in the car anymore, but in a house bound-tied on a bed.

The door was open and I could hear three voices:

"I don't know JAN, I agree he looks a lot like Bruce - your
Captain/President Sheridan from Babylon 5, but his ID said he's name
is Lee Stetson from DC. Another thing don't you remember what ANA
said when she called last night; that Bruce would be in LA tonight
at some important event, so he can't be here no?"

"CHERYL, believe me when I say , he is Bruce , I can't be in no
mistake about those eyes, that face and above all those dimples he
flash at me when he climb in my cab !"

"What do you say SUE? Please help me convince our friend that this
isn't Bruce, and if she don't want to go to jail , she must let him
go and apologize!"

"Don't start you too SUE, I'm sure he is Bruce and to convince you I’ll call the worldwide Bruce Specialist TERA aka TS, aka The Twisted Sister aka The Demented Virginal Nun. She is the only one who can tell the truth."

"Billy believe me , I was scared, I was in tight spots before, but
that was scary, this Jan was convinced I was someone else and the
other two couldn't convince her and now they were expected another
one?

I tried to untie myself but I couldn't it was a Kilick-Hitch and
who can undo one of those?"

"So, Lee how did you manage to get free?" Francine found her voice
and asked.

"Well that was easy after that Bruce specialist arrived, TERA came
into the room and checked me - it was quite nice, nothing
embarrassing I can say (at this point Amanda smacked him not so
playfully).

She declared that definitely I wasn't that Bruce character.
After her verdict, Jan didn't know how to apologize fast enough, but
I said that if she helped me to get a faster plane home all will be
forgot.

That was my adventure and you know what? We should check this Bruce
character maybe he may help us from time to time, if we are so look
a like!"

"You're right Lee, who knows maybe I would let him check me out just
like that TS did with you"

The sneaky look on Amanda's face made Francine snicker but it was
Lee's the panicked look which made all burst laughing.

"Come on Amanda, I didn't say I liked it, you know that it is
your..."

The rest of the conversation remained unheard because Billy took
Francine's hand and left the office. He was happy that half of his
best team was unharmed and was sure no more ears were necessary
were needed inside.

Relief

4247 Maplewood Dr.

Friday, January 30 1993

10:30 PM

The ringing of the phone jerked Lee out of a fitful sleep. His hand
shot out, grabbing the cordless from the nightstand and pressing the
button.

"Hello?"

"Lee?"

"Oh Amanda thank God. Where are you? Are you hurt? Where's Jenna?"
The questions spilled out of Lee's mouth, the relief at hearing his
wife's voice washing over him.

"Calm down. She's okay—we're both fine. We're at Shady Grove Adventist
Hospital in Rockville."

"The hospital? That doesn't sound fine to me. What happened?"

"There was a little accident."

"A little accident?" Lee's voice rose, his hands clutching the
cordless tightly. "You leave to take Jenna birthday shopping and I
don't hear a thing from you for over 24 hours. What the hell happened?"

"Lee, please calm down."

"Okay," Lee sat on the edge of the bed, fighting to bring his
breathing and heartbeat back under control. "I'm calm. Now tell me
exactly what happened."

"Well we were heading north on 355 when a car sideswiped us and ran us
off the road into a ravine. I blacked out and then when I came to we
were trapped in the car. Jenna was crying for me for hours and I
couldn't even get to her no matter what I did—I couldn't get to my
baby." Lee could hear the tears in Amanda's voice as she rambled. "If
it hadn't been for ANNE I don't know what might've—"

"Hold on a minute. Who's Anne?"

"A truck driver—she noticed the broken guardrail and went down to
investigate. Anne phoned for help and she even sat there with us and
held Jenna's hand – kept her entertained until the paramedics arrived."

"Well remind me to thank her personally." Lee ran a hand back through
his hair. "So you and Jenna are really all right? Not seriously hurt
or anything?"

"I told you, we're both fine." Amanda repeated what she'd said
earlier. "I just have some bruises and Jenna has a gash on her
arm—they had to give her a few stitches.
The Windstar is totaled—we were lucky to walk away from this one."

"I don't care about the car, Amanda—the car is replaceable. You and
Jenna aren't." A nasty thought began to take shape in his mind. "Are
you sure it really was an accident and not—"

"At this point I'm not sure about anything," Amanda said. "But I don't
think so—it wouldn't be like him to leave a job half-finished. I think
he would've made sure that we were gone."

"True." The thought of that man harming his wife or his child made
Lee feel physically ill. He tried to push those feelings to the back
of his mind and concentrate on the here and now.

"Any luck on decoding that disc?" Amanda asked.

"Not yet," Lee said. "But ERMINTRUDE and TERA from cryptology are
working on it—I'm sure they'll—" suddenly a high-pitched voice broke
in on the conversation.

"Daddy?"

"Hold on," Amanda told him. "I think someone here wants to talk to you."

"Hey there munchkin," Lee said. "How are you?"

"Fine," Jenna said. "But I was scared. I miss you"

Lee swallowed hard. "Daddy misses you too, Jenna—but I promise I'll be
there real soon to pick up you and Mommy and take you home and
tomorrow you'll have a big party for your birthday. Doesn't that sound
nice?"

"Uh-huh. With cake?"

"All the cake and ice-cream you want." Lee said. A long silence
followed. "Jenna, are you there?"

"CHERYL and STEPHY gave me stitches in my arm," Jenna said. "I didn't
cry and I got a lollipop."

"I'm very proud of you," Lee said. "Can you put Mommy on the phone
again?"

"She's here," Jenna said. "I love you."

"I love you too, munchkin."

"Okay. Here's Mommy."

"Lee how are mother and the boys?" Amanda asked.

"Worried sick—Jamie's on his way home from Georgetown and Phillip and
Dotty are already here." Lee said. "Look--I'll make a few phone calls
and then I should be there to pick up you and Jenna within the half
hour." He paused. "I love you, Mrs. Stetson."

"I love you too, Mr. Stetson."
