Timeline: Set in the beginning of the second season. Breaks Cannon.
By the time Amanda arrived back at the Hilton, her mother and the boys were ready to leave. They enjoyed the day at the Glockenspiel, and looked forward to spending the evening walking through downtown Munich. Amanda went into her bedroom to change and quickly realized she was missing something very important.

“Oh my gosh!” She yelled loud enough for her mother to hear from the living room.

“Amanda dear, what is it?” Her mother asked, while headed toward the bedroom.

Amanda had a firm grip on her neck when Dotty entered the room. “I lost my favorite necklace,” she informed her.

Dotty stood staring for a moment before a solution crossed her mind. “I’m terribly sorry dear. Why don’t you just backtrack all the places you’ve visited today? I’m sure it will turn up somewhere,” she tried to comfort her. “Besides, you never did tell me where you were all day,” Dotty reminded her.

Amanda placed her hands on her hips. “Mother, I told you I had some shopping to do. I also visited a few sights along the way.”

Dotty nodded her head, somewhat skeptical. “Alright Darling, if you say so. I’ll get Phillip and Jamie, and we’ll help you find your necklace.”

“No mother!” Amanda proclaimed. “I mean, I did promise the boys I’d show them the sites today. Why don’t you get started, and I’ll meet up with you a little later. This way, I’ll be able to retrace my steps,” she suggested.

Dotty realized she wasn’t about to win this discussion. “Alright Amanda. Why don’t we meet at that little café downtown in two hours? I read about it in our tourist manual. The food is supposed to be delicious Amanda. I think it’s called Campari,” Dotty suggested.

Amanda was quite happy that her mother didn’t put up too much of a struggle. “That sounds good Mother. I’ll meet you there at 6:00 p.m.” she agreed.

Amanda kissed the boys goodbye, giving each of them a hug along with it. “I want you fellas to mind your Grandmother, okay?”

“We will mom,” they replied in unison.

Amanda searched high and low to no avail. She went to St. Georges Church, followed by the Archive, and finally the Glockenspiel. Her body was tired, but she desperately wanted to recover her treasured necklace. She took a moment to sit on a bench to clear her mind. She said a silent prayer that she didn’t lose it at Baron Claus Van Igar’s house. That was the only place she hadn’t checked. Then it dawned on her. She remembered the Munchin Brauhausen Biergarten. That was the Bierhaus Beer Hall where she had met Haddy Kemp. She cringed, thinking about the atmosphere in that place, not to mention the fact that she spilled beer all over Lee. She took a deep breath and decided to be brave. She desperately wanted to find her diamond necklace.

Approximately a half a block from the Beer Hall, Amanda could here the familiar music playing, and people cheering and clapping. When she arrived at the establishment, she took a deep breath before entering. She put on her friendliest smile and walked in the front door. The room was filled with wall-to-wall people, and the smoke blanketed the entire place. Amanda tried her best to stifle the cough that threatened to escape her mouth. She walked over to the bar to chat with the bartender.

“Hello sir, I’m an American tourist that was in here yesterday. I was just wondering if you….”she spoke before being interrupted.

The bartender looked someone puzzled. He mumbled something in German, and Amanda was clueless as to what he was actually saying to her. Somewhat upset by the confusion, Amanda put her head down, and headed for the door. Before she reached the door, she heard a familiar voice call out her name.

“Amanda,” this person called, in a questionable tone. Amanda turned around to find the voice, and gasped when she recognized the familiar face.

Her eyes lit up when she spotted Lee in the corner, headed in her direction. “What are you doing here?” she asked, somewhat surprised.

Lee smiled and led her toward the back of the room. “I was just about ready to ask you the same question,” he quietly replied.

Amanda stopped before they reached his desired destination. “Oh Lee, I lost my favorite necklace yesterday. I have searched high and low, and have come up empty handed. This was the only place I hadn’t checked, besides the Baron’s home. Unfortunately, the bartender doesn’t speak English. I don’t know what I’m going to do if I don’t find it,” she sadly stated.

“Hold it right there Amanda. Let me talk to the bartender. You have a seat here, and I’ll find out if he knows anything,” he offered.

Amanda’s smile lit up her entire face. “You’d do that for me Lee?” she questioned him.

Lee smiled back revealing his dimples. “Of course Amanda. You just sit and relax, and I’ll be right back,” he stated.

Amanda dusted off the seat before sitting down in the booth. She watched silently as he confidently walked to the bar and had a discussion with the bartender. Her hope began to rise when she watched the man behind the bar reach down under the counter and hand something to Lee. Lee then placed some money on the counter and headed back in her direction, with a suave smile on his face. He placed two steins of beer on the table, before reaching out for Amanda’s hand. “Here you go. Safe and sound,” he whispered.

Amanda was overjoyed. Without thinking, she stood up and wrapped her arms around Lee, and gave him a big hug. “Oh my gosh. Thank you Lee. I don’t know how to thank you enough,” she happily uttered over and over.

Lee encouraged her to have a seat and talk with him for a little while. “Why don’t you have a drink with me Amanda?” he suggested.

Amanda looked at the beer steins, then back up at Lee. “Oh gosh, no thank you Lee. I don’t even like beer,” she stated.

She watched as his happy expression turned to a slight pout. “Come on Amanda. Let’s just have one,” he urged. Before she responded, he added playfully, “Just don’t spill this one on me, okay?”

Amanda smiled, trying to cover her embarrassment. “Oh alright Lee. Just one drink, then I really have to get going,” she insisted. She sipped the thick beverage, trying to conceal her displeasure. ‘This is horrible,’ she told herself, but continued to sip it. As Amanda continued to talk and drink, she didn’t realize the time was passing away.

Lee settled in the booth, and began telling Amanda some of the adventures he encountered in his career. He felt so comfortable sharing these memories with her. Amanda listened intently to story after story, continuing to consume her beverage. She was actually surprised that the flavor of her drink seemed to get better and better as the evening progressed. She lost count of just how many times Lee had refilled their steins.

Several beers later, Lee noticed that Amanda was quite sloshed. He also felt somewhat relaxed, but not nearly as comfortable as Amanda. His body was leaning against the wall for support. Every time he looked over at Amanda, her lips looked more and more inviting, and he fought the urge to lean forward and kiss her. He couldn’t help but laugh when she let out a quiet hiccup.

Amanda immediately put her hand on her mouth. “Oh my gosh Lee. Please excuse me. I think I had a little too much to drink,” she stated. A moment later, she burst into laughter. Lee smiled from ear to ear, while reaching out to remove her hand away from her mouth. Amanda stiffened momentarily when she felt his fingertips brush her lips.

Lee didn’t release her hand. “It’s alright Amanda. You don’t have to apologize for anything. I’ve put away quite a lot myself,” he admitted, while stroking her fingertips.

Amanda felt like she was in heaven. The feeling of his fingers on her skin sent chills throughout her entire body. Her body shuddered, causing her to spill her drink into her lap. “I’m so sorry Lee. I don’t know what happened,” she uttered slightly embarrassed.

Lee knew it was time to get her out of there. “It’s alright Amanda. Let’s get some napkins, and get out of here,” he suggested.

Lee’s legs were wobbly when he rose from the bench. He did his best to cover it, and grabbed Amanda’s hand in the process. He left a tip on the table and led her out the door.

Lee had to give Amanda his full support. She was staggering down the street. He wrapped his arm protectively around her waist, and led her away from the building. They had just walked between the alley between the pub and a bakery, when Amanda lost her footing.

“Woaaa,” she uttered, falling hard against Lee’s chest.

Lee had to place both arms around Amanda’s waist to steady her from falling on the ground. When she finally regained her balance, they were pressed against one another. Lee’s breath quickened as he felt her wet body pressed against him. He looked down, to find her staring into his eyes. Without thinking, he leaned down and placed a kiss upon her lips. She in turn, wrapped both arms around his neck, and deepened the kiss, nibbling on his lower lip.

Before either one of them realized exactly what was happening, Lee darted his tongue out to taste her mouth. Her tongue was waiting to dance with his. He let out a loud moan, when he met no resistance. Lee’s hands cradled and caressed her back, in a slow soothing motion.

Amanda’s head was spinning out of control. She was experiencing such pleasure, and didn’t want it to end. Amanda’s hands traveled into his hair, trailing her nails along Lee’s scalp.

Lee broke the kiss, only to trail kisses along her jaw and collarbone. His hands instinctively wandered lower, pulling her bottom against his manhood. His breathing became much more shallow when he felt her breasts tight against his chest. His left arm traveled up her side to cup her breast. When Amanda called out his name, he realized what he was doing. He suddenly pulled away, and grabbed Amanda by her forearms. He stood staring for a moment, before he was able to speak. “Oh god Amanda,” his voice sounding hoarse and raspy, “what am I doing? I’m so sorry Amanda,” he apologized over and over again.

Amanda was equally affected by the kiss. For once, she was completely speechless. She took a moment to catch her breath, before leaning against his chest. “Wow, that was incredible!” she exclaimed with a giggle. Her body was like Jell-O, as she leaned all of her weight against him.

Lee shook his head, trying to clear his mind. ‘I just kissed Amanda, and it was wonderful,’ he admitted to himself. ‘What the hell are you thinking Stetson? Don’t do this,’ he reminded himself again. ‘She is just your partner,’ he repeated over and over again.

He placed his arms around her waist, and led her toward his hotel. He realized she was in no condition to return to her own hotel, and family in this state of mind. She rested her head on his shoulder, and remained silent the entire walk back to Lee’s hotel room.

Once inside the room, Lee knew he had to take her wet clothes off. When he placed her on the bed, she mumbled his name. Lee tried to gently rouse her awake, to remove the beer-soaked clothes. Amanda was sound asleep, and made no effort to move. He tried once more to delicately tap her cheek, but she remained motionless.

Lee ran a hand through his hair. ‘Great! Just great. How the hell am I going to explain this to her tomorrow? I got you drunk Amanda, then I took advantage of you in an alley, and brought you to my room and removed your clothing,’ he yelled at himself.

Lee decided it was time to remove her wet clothing. He started by removing her shoes and socks. Next, he reluctantly unbuttoned Amanda’s slacks and un-tucked her shirt. Lee carefully unbuttoned her shirt, and quickly removed it. Next, he unzipped her slacks and removed them in one fluid motion. ‘Thank God I wasn’t totally wasted, because this could have turned out very different,’ he reminded himself. He couldn’t help but admire her beautiful body, sprawled across his bed. He quickly shook those thoughts from his head, and reached for the blanket. He pulled the covers up under Amanda’s neck, and carefully tucked her in. He smiled, when she let out a sigh of contentment.

Lee rinsed her clothes in the sink. He hung them on the rack in the bathroom, and headed out for the couch. He remained completely clothed. He didn’t want to give Amanda the wrong impression when she woke in the morning. ‘My god, what if she remembers last night,’ he thought to himself. Lee tossed and turned on his uncomfortable couch for most of the night. He kept picturing that incredible kiss, over and over again.

**********************************************************************

When morning arrived, Amanda slowly awoke. Her head was pounding, and it seemed like there was no saliva in her mouth. She sat up gingerly, and took in her surroundings. “Ohhh,” she moaned, as her head pounded even harder. She looked for any sign of familiarities around the room, but found nothing. She looked under the covers, and wondered why her clothes were missing. She tried to clear her brain, and recall the events from the last evening. ‘I left the hotel to find my necklace. Lee was there. He found it in the pub,’ she reminded herself. She looked down, and saw the beautiful diamond hanging around her neck. ‘I remember drinking that awful beer with Lee, and a kiss. A kiss?’ she questioned herself.

Amanda jumped, when she heard a loud familiar male groan coming from the living room. “Lee,” she called out hesitantly.

Lee sat up, and stretched, in an attempt to remove the kinks from his neck. He heard her calling, and headed to the bedroom. ‘Here we go,’ he thought. His head felt like it was splitting into pieces.

He knocked, and waited for a response before entering. “Hi,” he uttered hesitantly. He couldn’t tell what she was thinking at the moment, so he decided to let her speak first.

Amanda stared for a moment before speaking to him. She looked confused about the situation. “Lee, what happened last night?”

“What do you mean?” he countered defensively.

“Just what I said Lee. What happened? Where are my clothes, and why am I in…your bed?” She asked cautiously.

Lee was surprised at her reaction. She didn’t seem angry, but confused. ‘Maybe she doesn’t remember,’ he told himself. “We got a little drunk, and we ended up here,” he blurted out.

Amanda’s eyes now grew as wide as saucers. “We what!” She pulled the covers up, protectively around her neck.

Lee shook his head before he replied. “No, Amanda. It’s not what you think. We had a few beers at the pub, and you spilled some beer in your lap. I couldn’t take you back to your hotel in that condition, so I brought you here. I rinsed your clothes, and they are probably dry by now,” he stated.

Amanda let out a sigh of relief. “I knew it had to be something like that.” Amanda tried her best not to let Lee know how relieved she was over the situation. “So that’s all there was to it, right Lee?” She watched his expression very carefully while waiting for an answer.

Lee smiled, realizing that she didn’t remember the kiss. He was very happy about that fact. He wasn’t prepared to explain that kiss. “Yes, Amanda, that’s all there was to it,” he assured her.

Amanda dressed and headed out into the dinning room. Lee made a cup of coffee for the both of them. “Ouch, my head is killing me,” she announced. “I’ll never drink again,” she vowed.

Lee smiled, nodding in agreement. “I know exactly how you feel Amanda. Drink some more coffee, and have a Danish,” he insisted.

After they finished their meal, Lee rented a car, and drove her back to the Hilton.

He pulled to the front curb, and waited for her to exit. “What are you going to tell your mother?”

Amanda didn’t know what to say. She thought about it for a moment, and decided on the truth. “I’m going to be as honest as I can Lee,” she stated.

He smiled at her. “I’m sure you will. You be careful, and I’ll see you back in D.C.,” he smile, while giving her a wink.

Amanda smiled back, and stated, “thank you Lee. Thanks for taking care of me last night.

“You’re very welcome Amanda,” he replied.

Amanda opened the door, and turned to say one last thing. “Oh by the way Lee, I just wanted to tell you I really like your cologne.”

Lee looked her somewhat puzzled. “What cologne Amanda?” he asked curiously.

Amanda smiled playfully and responded, “the cologne I smell all over the collar of my shirt.”

Before Lee could come up with any kind of a valid response, Amanda was already walking in the door of the hotel, giggling out loud.

Amanda slowly turned the lock, and tiptoed into the room. Her mother greeted her at the door. “Well, it’s so nice that you decided to finally come back Amanda. At least I see you found your necklace,” Dotty stated sarcastically.

“Mother, I’m so sorry I didn’t call. I got tied up…” her words trailed off.

“Don’t give me that Amanda King,” she interrupted. “Why don’t you try telling me the truth for once? I’m a big girl Amanda. I can handle it,” she assured her.

Amanda closed her eyes, and tried to gather her thoughts. She thought about the conversation in Lee’s car, and decided to go with it. “Okay mother, you asked for it. I got drunk at a local pub, and spent the night with an American Spy,” she blurted out.

Dotty was left standing speechless.
