All My Dreams

All my dreams, and every desire--all that I ever wanted--is distilled
into this one room, this one chair.

I thought myself so clever, to dance with demons.

Arrogant. Invincible. Foolish.

Alone now, but never unattended. It waits with me. Within me.

All ties cut, save that one, and that one, a horror.

I, who sought to control, am controlled. Ironic, isn’t it? I truly
wish I could travel in time, to pluck the threads from the pattern.

To turn from the twisted path that led me here.

Too late for me.

Too late for my people.
